Eston received his B.A. degree from Tulane University in New Orleans in 1969, and his J.D. degree from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C., in 1973.
Following his graduation from Georgetown, Eston practiced law in Washington until 1983, concentrating on securities law, including tax exempt securities, and business law. From 1978 to 1981, Eston was an Assistant Director of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. Eston is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers, and has been listed in the “Red Book.”
In 1983, Eston returned to southwest Louisiana to practice law. In January 1992, he joined the firm. Since his return to southwest Louisiana, Eston has continued his interest in commercial practice and represents both businesses and individuals in a wide variety of regulatory and commercial matters. Eston’s clients range from large industries which have invested over $500 million in Louisiana during the past several years to newly formed businesses. Through his representation of industries locating and expanding in Louisiana, Eston has become well versed in the tax incentive programs offered by the state, as well as state and local tax matters. His extensive representation of medical groups has led to great familiarity with the changing legal environment affecting medical groups and physicians.
Eston continues to be involved in securities and tax exempt offerings as well as bank financings. The bank financings have ranged from bank loans for newly formed businesses to syndicated loans in excess of $200 million for the construction of a petrochemical plant. In addition to business, regulatory, and commercial matters, Eston maintains an extensive estate planning practice. |
